About Johns Hopkins
100% of every donation goes to JOHNS HOPKINS CMT4B3 Research!
At Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Jason Chua’s lab is uncovering how disruptions in autophagy — the process cells use to clear waste — contribute to CMT4B3. Using stem cells derived from patients, including Hunter himself, the Chua Lab is identifying how loss of the SBF1 gene affects nerve health and testing ways to restore balance at the cellular level.
This work represents one of the most advanced efforts to understand the disease mechanism driving CMT4B3 and to discover therapies that can slow, stop, or even reverse its progression. Funding from Hunter’s CMT4B3 Research Foundation makes this critical research possible — bridging the gap between discovery and real treatments for children and families living with this devastating disease.
